Last year I gave up sugar for Lent. I quit lots of my favourites; bread, pasta, yogurts, cake, biscuits, chocolate, fizzy drinks, booze and basically anything that has added sugar. It was tough but worth it. Over the six weeks I lost a remarkable 1 ½ stone in weight and with mindful eating I’ve managed to keep that weight off.
So at the start of this year – with my wedding on the horizon – I made the promise to myself to consciously quit sugar again and over the past four weeks another stone in weight has fallen off me and I feel amazing albeit I’ve had a few sugar treats along the way (I call them good calories, eating a little bit of what you want is good for the soul).
