The ability to control the way you think lies at the heart of fulfilment and a sense of purpose. Your very own identity is wrapped up in it. If you have the power to control your personal state then you have unlocked the key to contentment, success and realisation of your personal goals.
So how do we unlock this key?
Take a moment to read this and then engage with the process. Take care to observe what is going on inside – as this is the most effective way of managing deeper self change.
Create some space, close your eyes and focus your attention inside yourself. Become aware of the self conversation inside you at this moment, that voice inside that commits on your thoughts, actions and emotions. Is it loud or soft? What tone are you using to speck to yourself? Do you sound gentle or harsh, authoritative or friendly, urgent or relaxed? Do the words support and encourage or is the voice critical? Just listen.
Now notice your emotional state. What emotion is present? Are you excited, nervous, angry, and happy or something else?
Finally, monitor your body – how does it feel? Energised, tired, hurting, do you feel anxious? Something else?
Now open your eyes…
Listening to internal self-conversation is a useful habit to adopt because it enables you to monitor the changes that your making on the inside. Once you recognise this, you can choose to be kind, motivating, use a different tone of voice, be friendly or supportive. If you can do this to yourself, you will learn how to do this to others, too.
Your memories and life experience belong to you.
If they are not serving you well, then it is your right to change them.
Create a protective shell that enables you to operate at maximum capacity.
At some point you just need to let go.
